Crowns and bridges
A crown covers and protects a tooth that is broken, weak, discolored or badly shaped, restoring it to its normal shape and size. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth.
Crowns
A crown can cover a large filling, protect a tooth after a root canal, cap a dental implant, or anchor a bridge. All-ceramic crowns can also replace older crowns that show a dark line at the gum. For many teeth, Dr. Da Cunha can make the crown in a single visit with CEREC.
Bridges
Missing teeth affect how you look, chew and speak, and nearby teeth can shift into the gap. A bridge fills the space, helps keep the natural shape of your face, and takes stress off your bite. Depending on the support from surrounding teeth, Dr. Da Cunha may recommend:
- A fixed bridge, bonded to neighboring teeth and removable only by the dental office.
- A removable bridge, which you can take out yourself.
- An implant bridge, with the replacement teeth attached to dental implants.

What are crowns and bridges made of?
They can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination. Dr. Da Cunha will recommend the material that suits the tooth and your smile.
Can a crown be made in one visit?
Often, yes, with same-day CEREC crowns.
