CEREC lets Dr. Da Cunha design and make a durable, tooth-colored ceramic crown while you wait, so a damaged tooth can be restored in a single appointment.
How it works
CEREC combines a digital camera, a computer and a milling unit.
- Scan. After the tooth is prepared, a digital camera captures a precise 3D image of it, with no impression trays.
- Design. The image appears on screen, where Dr. Da Cunha designs your crown to fit your tooth and your bite.
- Mill. The milling unit carves the crown from a solid block of ceramic matched to your tooth color.
- Bond. Dr. Da Cunha checks the fit and bonds the crown in place, all in the same visit.
Because the crown is designed precisely, CEREC helps save as much of your natural tooth as possible.

How durable is a CEREC crown?
CEREC crowns are milled from a solid block of high-quality ceramic that is durable and matches the color of your natural teeth.
Do I need a temporary crown?
No. Because the crown is made during your visit, there is no temporary crown and no second appointment to place the final one.
